Edmund E. Kelbley

Edmund E. Kelbley, 72, of Burgoon, died at 5:36 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.

Edmund was born Aug. 6, 1939, in New Riegel, to the late George and Rose (Holmer) Kelbley. He married Beulah (Stierhoff) Sept. 29, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church and she survives.

Edmund also is survived by his two sons, Donald (Christine) Kelbley of Tiffin, and David (Carmell) Kelbley of Toledo; three grandchildren, Lynette, Matthew and Carsynn; and two brothers, Herman (Audru Zimmerman) Kelbley of Walbridge and Harold (Ann) Kelbley of Bloomville.

Edmund was a 1957 graduate of Attica High School. He then joined the Army National Guard and went into the regular Army, serving his country in Germany and CONUS during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After leaving the Army, he had a short time at Tiffin Ford as a mechanic and then pursued a life-long career as an over-the-road truck driver. He drove in 43 out of 48 states including Canada, logging in over 3 million miles during his 33-year tenure. After his retirement, he worked as a CDL truck driver instructor at Terra Community College, putting his knowledge and experience in the truck to teach new students. Edmund enjoyed camping with his family and meeting many interesting, and life-long, friends along the way.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Bascom, with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation for friends and family will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 27, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, 301 Union St., Bettsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Meadowbrook Park, Bettsville American Legion or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
