FINDLAY - Tiffin University's softball team smacked 12 hits in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with Findlay, beating the Oilers 11-3. The Dragons then closed out the regular season with a 7-6 loss in eight innings.
Tiffin will play again this weekend at the GLIAC Tournament in Findlay.
In the first game, the Dragons (26-23, 16-13) scored six runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth. Payton Denman doubled and had four RBIs in the win, while Meagan Baird and Amanda Temple had two hits each.
Torrie Terry got the win in the circle, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing three earned runs.
In the second game, Tiffin led 6-4 after five innings, but the Oilers had single tallies in the sixth, seventh and eighth to win.
Denman doubled and homered for the Dragons, as did Caitlin Houk.
Rock beat Dragons
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Three different Slippery Rock players scored three goals, and The Rock topped Tiffin, 17-10.
Alexandria Quast scored four goals for the Dragons, who slipped to 2-13.
Kelly Miller and Elyse Braun had two goals apiece for the Dragons.
TU golf eighth at GLIAC
MIDLAND, Mich - Deborah Landis shot a 260 to lead the Tiffin women's golf team, as the Dragons finished eighth out of nine teams at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Championships, with a score of 1,112.
Jaycee Gorrow shot a 280 for the Dragons, while Allison Soviak had 285.
HU tennis falls to Otterbein
WESTERVILLE - Heidelberg won three singles matches in Westerville, but that was it as Otterbein doubled up HU's men's tennis team, 6-3.
In singles play, Heidelberg's Bobby Lochotzki defeated the Cardinals' Ryan Roberts, 7-6 (9-7), 7-5. The Student Princes' Dorion Kompf beat Sam Lawless, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0, while HU's Matthew McDivitt beat Andrew Sutter 7-5, 3-6, 1-0.
Heidelberg fell to 10-7, 4-4 in the OAC.
