FOSTORIA - St. Wendelin scored 12 runs in the second inning, and Meghan Reiter handled the rest as the Mohawks' hammered Old Fort, 16-2, in Fostoria.

Reiter pitched all five innings. She allowed two runs on three hits, didn't walk a batter and struck out 10.

Reiter also helped herself at the plate, lining two doubles, scoring three times and driving in two runs.

Haley Wolfe had three hits, scored three times and drove in three runs.

Edy Mowrey also drove in three runs for Mohawks.

Paige Polyak tripled for the Stockaders, and also drove in a run. Sammy Miller took the loss.

Durst smothers North Baltimore

NORTH BALTIMORE - Lakota needed just five innings to wallop North Baltimore on Monday, 16-1, in Midland Athletic League play.

Abby Durst (7-1) picked up the victory, striking out five and walking no one.

At the plate, she was 3 for 4, driving in two and scoring three times. Morgan Gangwer plated four and scored two more herself on a 3-for-4 day. Stephanie Miller drove in three with two hits, including a home run. Jessica Hoffman and Courtney Chalfin doubled and scored twice. Carlee Conrad was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Morgan Lewis had a double and scored.

Lakota scored in every inning, but busted the doors open in the third with five runs and another four in the fourth.

Bucyrus' hot bats beat up Rams

UPPER SANDUSKY - Bucyrus scored in every inning but the second in a 14-8 beating of North Central Conference foe Upper Sandusky, on Monday.

The Redmen scored four in the first and five in the third to take a 9-0 lead.

Allie Smith took the loss for the Rams, working those first three innings and striking out two.

The defense behind didn't help, booting seven balls in the process.

Brigitte Snow smoked a solo home run. Justeen Searfoss had three hits and Lexa Chaney had two more in the loss. Savannah Piecha doubled and singled. Maranda Stansbery doubled and scored while Tiffany Towns singled and scored. Katie Taylor scored twice.

"They had hot bats tonight. We had a few errors early and along with their hitting, we just didn't have enough game left to catch up," Upper Sandusky coach David Young said.

Fostoria blanked by Elmwood

BLOOMDALE - Casey Babb and Jada Hampton both had two hits but that was all the offense Fostoria could muster in a 5-0 shutout at the hands of Elmwood in Northern Buckeye Conference play Monday.

Babb took the loss in the circle for Fostoria (4-13, 2-4 NBC), going all six innings. She yielded six hits and three walks while striking out one.

Whitney Striff struck out three for the Royals. She doubled at the plate while Rebecah Harvey and Sierra Beckford each tripled.

New Riegel bests Fremont St. Joe

FREMONT - A five-run third inning turned a close game into a rout Monday as New Riegel bounced St. Joe, 9-1.

The Blue Jackets (13-4, 5-1 MAL) had a hit from every hitter but one in the starting lineup collect a hit.

Pacing the attack was Taylor Arbogast, who had three hits. Kara Scherger tripled and singled while teammate Taylor Kirian tripled, driving in two runs. Paige Noftz and Morgan Noftz each singled in runs. Stacey Wank and Megan Mathias both doubled and singled, with Mathias driving in a pair. Sandra Acree had an RBI single.

Kirian (12-4) picked up the victory, striking out one and walking another in a six-hit complete game.

H-L rides early surge

BASCOM - Hopewell-Loudon jumped on top 5-1 in the bottom of the first en route to doubling up Calvert 8-4 in Midland Athletic League play. Monday.

Lauren Trumpler led the Chieftains (5-12, 2-3 MAL) with a homer, double, two runs and three RBIs.

Alicia Frank added three RBIs off a double and single, Racquel Hossler doubled, Hailee Hill had two RBIs off two singles, Abby Park singled twice and Aubrey Affholder scored twice and singled.

Kelsey Coppus got the win.

Kate Brickner had three runs, a solo homer and a single for the Senecas (2-12, 1-5).

Haley Steiner suffered the loss.

Lucas powers off

LUCAS - Lucas broke open a close game with seven runs in the fifth Monday en route to dropping Buckeye Central 10-2 in North Central Conference play.

Buckeye Central scored a run in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the Cubs (8-9, 4-2 NCC) took off from there, thanks in large part to a grand slam.

Taylor Hanes belted a solo homer for the Buckettes (12-6, 3-4), Maddie Ehresman doubled and scored and Kendra Schultz doubled and singled. Morgan Wurm took the loss.
