Theft victim doesn't get mad, he gets a video cam

After having a television stolen from his greenhouse a month or so ago, a Tiffin resident decided to take action: He installed a video surveillance camera.

Sure enough, the greenhouse was broken into again last week. And, sure enough, the video camera yielded images of the intruder.

Officers who viewed the pictures immediately recognized the intruder. They went to his apartment, where they noticed stolen property outside. After obtaining a search warrant, they recovered two truck loads of stolen items, including a set of cast-iron table and chairs, a patio umbrella, 14 sections of decorative fencing, two gas grills and about 10 bicycles.

In appears that video cam helped police solve at least five cases.

A Tiffin man has been arrested and jailed on charges of breaking and entering, theft and retaining stolen property.
