Lesy Herbert proved to be a crucial part of Tiffin University's 1-0, 3-2 sweep over Ohio Dominican Wednesday. Herbert hit a game-winning single in the eighth inning of game one, and hit a two-run homer in game two.
In the first game, Amber Young stifled Ohio Dominican bats for eight innings, and Tiffin took its at-bats in the eighth against ODU's Rachael Stanzel, who was matching Young pitch for pitch.
With one out in the eighth, Meagan Baird hit a double, and was lifted for pinch runner Morgan Slob. After the next batter, Caitlin Houk, grounded out, Herbert singled up the middle to score Slob with the winning run.
Young allowed four hits, walked three and struck out seven in moving to 11-10.
In the second game, Tiffin scored all of its runs in the fourth, as Baird hit an RBI double, and Herbert hit a two-run homer.
Abbey Cooksey got the win, throwing a complete seven innings and allowing one earned run on three hits. She struck out two in moving to 14-10.
Tiffin improved to 26-20, 16-12 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Notre Dame downs TU lacrosse
LYNDHURST - Elyse Braun scored four goals for Tiffin University's lacrosse team, but Notre Dame scored 11 in the first half, and won, 20-14.
Alexandria Quast had three goals for the Dragons, who fell to 1-12.
Jessica Bombard made 16 saves for Tiffin.
Notre Dame improved to 5-8.
