Council remembers Barbara Marley

FOSTORIA - As Mayor Aaron Montz asked for a moment of silence at Tiffin's council meeting Monday night for recently deceased Fostoria municipal judge Barbara Marley, Fostoria city council honored her as one of their own at its regular meeting Tuesday evening, passing a resolution memorializing the city official.

Mayor Eric Keckler announced an Arbor Day celebration April 27 at the city building, with elementary children assisting with the planting of a tree in memory of John Jacobs. A plaque and tree ceremony also will take place the same day in memory of Barbara Marley.

Keckler also announced an award will be presented Monday to the Ray family for saving Matt Sterling from a burning vehicle in late March.

Keckler added Fostoria has achieved the 30 year mark of "Tree City USA."

Council approved:

Authorizing safety service director to authorize bidding and enter into a contract to make necessary repairs to the Zeller Road water tower.

Two ordinances vacating parts of unnamed alleys in the first and fourth wards.

A resolution of condolensces for passing of Judge Barbara Marley.

The first reading of a resolution was made which notifies council of planned expenditures from capital improvement.
