SpiritSpace Gallery and Gifts, located in St. Francis Spirituality Center, is celebrating its fifth anniversary with an open house and special events Saturday and Sunday. Sister Jane Omlor has stocked the shop with art and gifts from artists near and far. The shop is to be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat. and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.

"On Saturday from 1-3 p.m., we're inviting children and adults to paint a handmade clay tile for a Mother's Day gift or whatever they want. There will be a $3 donation for this project."

There will be refreshments, door prizes, a doll raffle each day and special sales. Visitors also can see some of the merchandise for sale, including hand silk-screened candle lanterns and wall hangings by Kathy Keegan, an Oregon artist, and Ikebana pottery made by Sister Jane.

Jewelry, books, candy and many other items are available.

"We're featuring a doll show both days with both contemporary and antique dolls. An antique doll show will be added on Sunday," Omlor said. "Veta Musgrave from McCutchenville is bringing her antique doll collection, and some of her dolls date back to pre-Civil War."

Also, Karin Brown has set up her handmade German doll house for visitors to view. From 3-4 p.m. Sunday, little girls are invited to come with their favorite doll for a tea party with 10-minute seatings. Volunteers are preparing homemade gourmet food and apple juice instead of tea. The girls also can make Mother's Day cards, if they so choose.
