FOSTORIA - Fostoria's newly elected municipal court judge, who had been the first woman elected as the city's mayor and the president of Fostoria City Council, died Saturday night at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Barbara L. Marley, 64, of Fostoria, also had served as the Democratic county chairwoman.

A statement from Tom Smathers, chairman of Seneca County Democratic Central Committee Executive Committee, said Marley's sudden passing brings much sadness to those who knew her, loved her and worked with her, and Seneca County Democratic Party's sympathy is extended to her husband, Charles Hall Jr., and to the Marley family.

She was a tireless supporter and advocate for the principles of the Democratic Party, and her death will create a void that will be difficult to fill, it states.

Marley was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, a 1965 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, a 1969 graduate of St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Ind., and a 1972 graduate of University of Toledo College of Law, according to the funeral home.
