UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - TU softball dropped a 7-3 decision to Saginaw Valley State before the Dragons' Amber Young out-dueled SVSU's Jillian Williamson in the second game of the double header, in a 1-0 Tiffin win.

In game 1, TU jumped out with three runs in the third, but the Cardinals rallied for three of their own in the bottom of the frame. They tacked on four more in the fourth to get the win. Amanda Temple drove in all three Dragon runs.

In the second game, Young threw a complete game, two-hit shutout, striking out five. The offense came from the bat of Meagan Baird. Baird's fourth inning solo home run proved to be the only scoring in the game.

Stephanie Bobotas had a four-hit afternoon for the Dragons, picking up a pair of hits in each game.

Tiffin now sits at 22-19, 13-11 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Tiffin baseball swept by No. 20 GVSU

ALLENDALE MICH. - It was a rough day for Tiffin University's baseball team, but then, it would be for most teams that have to go on the road to face Grand Valley State.

The Lakers (24-10, 14-6 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), the No. 20 team in Division II, defeated the Dragons, 12-1 and 11-2 Saturday.

In the first game, TU starting pitcher David Dennemann was run from the game after 1 2/3 innings, as GVSU got to him for seven hits and seven runs, six of them earned.

The Lakers scored four in the first, five in the second and led 10-0 after three.

Tiffin scratched out a run in the sixth, when Ryan Williams, who led the offense with two hits, drove in a run.

In the second game, Grand Valley State again scored four runs in the first, this time of TU pitcher Brent Faber. Faber lasted four innings and gave up seven runs, five earned. He walked two and didn't strike out a batter.

Williams again drove in a run for TU (11-20, 6-12). So did Kyle Robinson.
