CLYDE - Autumn Nichols won three events and shared meet MVP honors Saturday as Columbian narrowly missed out on a team crown at the Clyde A.W. Hendricks Invitational.
Nichols had victories in the 100 hurdles (15.5), 100-meter dash (12.9) and 300 hurdles (47.4), but Fremont Ross clipped Columbian 126 1/3-125 1/6.
She also helped TC end second in the 4x400 (4:21.1), running with Annie Demith, Tori Stephens and Anna Williams.
Upper Sandusky took fifth (45 1/3) and Lakota ended seventh (28 1/6).
Michaela Sharlow, Demith, Stephens and Williams ran to victory in the 4x200 (1:51.8) for the Tornadoes. Sharlow, McKenna Theis, Demith and Stephens captured the 4x100 (54.4).
Hanna Musil added seconds in the 1,600 (5:42.6) and 800 (2:38), with Alex Foncannon running third in the 800 (2:38.4). Williams also took third in the 400 (1:03.9).
Williams (28.4) and Stephens (28.6) finished second and third in the 200. Other thirds came from Kali Fitro in the 3,200 (12:37) and Brittany Flint in the shot (30-0) and long jump (14-9 1/4). Flint also tied five others for third in the high jump (4-8).
Upper Sandusky got a second from discus thrower Kayla Counts (98-8), and had Anna Massara tie two others for second in the pole vault (8-0 1/2).
The Rams also got a third from the 4x100 team of Logan Kinley, Ceidyer Niederkohr, Taylor Daughenbaugh and Marissa Linhart (55.8).
Niederkohr and Alex Cameron were two of the six athletes who tied for third in the high jump.
Cariss Reese was one of three athletes who tied for second in the pole vault for Lakota, and ran third in the 300 hurdles (49.6).
Taylor Smith was yet another athlete who tied for third in the high jump.
In the boys meet, Columbian ended fifth with 41 points and Lakota held off Upper Sandusky 27-21 for seventh.
Columbian's Robbie Traunero captured the 300 hurdles (41.6).
Tornadoes Tyler Lewis (10:17.5) and Chris Gates (10:30.9) ended second and third in the 3,200.
Logan Greiner ran second in the 300 hurdles (42.6) and third in the 110 hurdles (16.4) for Lakota.
Upper Sandusky's Evan Logsdon claimed the high jump (6-2).
Daniel first, boys second for Seneca East
MILAN - Ashton Daniel captured the girls shot put to top Seneca East's individual efforts Saturday, while the boys claimed second as a team at the Milan Edison Invitational.
Daniel heaved the shot 37-11 and added a third in the discus (101-10) to help the Tigers take sixth overall with 56 points in the girls meet.
Western Reserve held off Vermilion 107-101 1/2 for the team crown.
Other thirds for Seneca East came from long jumper Megan Felter (15-7) and Marissa Willman in the 300 hurdles (52.14).
Host Edison edged Seneca East 102-101 for the boys team championship.
Seconds from long jumper Aaron Strausbaugh (18-11 3/4), pole vaulter Zach Gregg (12-6), Kevin Moore in the 110 hurdles (15.05), Nick Hughes in the 300 hurdles (42.23) and Wesley Pipher in the 3,200 (10:10.07) paced Seneca East.
Pipher added a third in the 1,600 (4:40.84), as did the 4x100 team of Hughes, Moore, Gregg and Strausbaugh (46.69).
