Royal and Betty Harrison celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary March 29, 2012.
Royal married the former Betty J. Dicken March 29, 1942, in Bowling Green. A reception to honor the couple took place Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Country Farmhouse Restaurant, Wayne.
Royal served on the first Lakota Board of Education and was instrumental in the formation of the Lakota School District. He also served on the Terra Technical Board, appointed by former Ohio Gov. James Rhodes.

Betty has been a homemaker and worked on the family farm with her husband.
They are parents of one daughter, the late Janet K. Harrison Schmidt, and one son, James R. Harrison of Fostoria. They also have three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
