Kurt A. Mawhirter, 42, of Tiffin, died at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at his residence with his wife by his side.
Kurt was born July 11, 1969, in Columbus, to Jerry Mawhirter, who survives in southern Ohio, and Bonnie (Delmar) Sayre, who survives in Grove City. He married Cheryl E. (McGinnis) Mawhirter Oct. 2, 2010, in Tiffin, and she also survives.
Kurt is survived by four children, Matthew Mawhirter of Tiffin, Tyler Mawhirter and Jacob Mawhirter of Columbus and Jordan Mawhirter of Michigan; four stepchildren, Hannah Lytle, Joshua Lytle, Rebekah Lytle and Leah Lytle, all of Tiffin; and two stepsisters, Dodie Oyster and Dee Dee Faulkner, both of Columbus.

Kurt worked at PCCW in the Tiffin Mall and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Tiffin. Kurt enjoyed bowling, golfing and was a lifelong auto racing fan. Kurt loved his Florida Gators and his backup team, Ohio State. He enjoyed traveling to anywhere there was water and sand, and just loved spending time with his family and many friends. Kurt was a 1987 graduate of Groveport High School.
Kurt was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold S. and Andrew D. Sayre.
There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory, 135 N. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-1221, with the Rev. Jan Kucera officiating. There also will be visitation 6-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
There will be no burial at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
