A CSX locomotive engine caught fire Tuesday night east of Maple Grove Stone Co., 2100 W CR 42, in Old Fort.
Bettsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and Old Fort Fire Department was put on standby.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire with fire extinguishers, Fire Chief Jim Maglosky of Bettsville Volunteer Fire Department said.
Train traffic was stopped for 45 minutes to an hour.
The fire made the engine inoperable and CSX sent another engine to remove it, Maglosky said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was undetermined.
