SYCAMORE - Sycamore Village Council responded to a motion by councilman Anthony Flood Tuesday evening and voted unanimously to appropriate $2,000 toward the construction of a new shelter house. The improvement will be built by the Sons of the American Legion at Veterans Memorial Park.

Council also approved Village Administrator Charles Clark to purchase a 1999 digger derrick truck.

Police chief Richard Blankenship reported 18 service calls during March, including a burglary. Blankenship also said newly hired police officer Zachary Stumpf is performing satisfactorily. Blankenship asked that village residents comply with an ordinance regarding dogs running loose.

The utilities committee has set a meeting to discuss water issues at 6 p.m. Tuesday at village hall.

Council is to meet at 7:30 p.m. April 24 at village hall.
