NEW RIEGEL - In the bottom of the seventh, Carey had the tying run on second base, but Brandyn Reinhart got Bryce Mullholand to ground out to first, sealing a 6-5 Midland Athletic League victory for the Blue Jackets.
Reinhart pitched a complete game, striking out 11.
New Riegel (4-3, 2-1 MAL) built a 5-1 lead after three innings, thanks to a four-run fourth inning. Reinhart provided the big hit in the frame with a two-run single. He also delivered what turned out to be the game-winning RBI on a sixth inning single that scored Blaine Hughes.
Hughes, Brady Hall and Josh Nye also picked up RBIs on the day. Hughes collected three hits and scored twice. Hall and Aaron Acree also had multi-hit games. Acree and Andrew Hohman also scored runs.
For Carey (3-6, 1-2), Alex Naeyaert and Corbin Blair each had two hits and drove in runs. Satchel Strahm also drove in a run.

Cody Behm delivered a big hit for Calvert as the Senecas broke open a tied game with a run in the fourth, claiming a 3-2 victory over Fremont St. Joe.
"Cody has been swinging the bat with confidence and he came through with a big hit tonight," Calvert coach Matt Coleman said. "That was a well pitched game on both sides tonight, and I'm just glad we were able to find a way to win a close game."
Alec Brickner picked up his third win of the year on the mound for Calvert (6-3, 2-1 MAL). Brickner tossed a complete game three-hitter, striking out 10.
At the plate, Derek Herzog, Clint Bogner, Ryan Huss and Eric Elchert also added base hits. Bogner scored twice while Huss scored once.
North Baltimore turns away Seneca East
NORTH BALTIMORE - North Baltimore broke a tie with three runs in the fourth and held on from there Wednesday to clip Midland Athletic League foe Seneca East, 5-4.
The hometown Tigers (4-7, 2-0 MAL) tied the game at 2 with a run in the third before going ahead for good in the fourth.
Seneca East (9-2, 1-2) plated two runs in the sixth to close the gap, but couldn't overtake North
Baltimore.
Winning pitcher Jordan Watson scored, doubled and singled for North Baltimore, Skyler Hall drove in two runs and singled, Zach Stewart lined two singles and Dalton Ishmael had two singles and a run.
Mason McWilliams' two RBIs off a double and single led the visiting Tigers. Kyle Depinet doubled and scored and Dalton Wise belted two singles and chased in a run.
Billy Diehm (1-1) took the loss.
A repeat performance for Ontario
UPPER SANDUSKY - In a game that closely mirrored one from a day earlier between the same two teams, Ontario maintained its perfect record with a 6-4 win over Upper Sandusky.
For the second-straight day, the Rams spotted the Warriors a big lead, as Ontario (11-0) led 5-1 after two innings. However, once again the Rams used a three-run inning to close the gap, but couldn't overcome the early deficit.
For Upper Sandusky (1-7, 0-2 North Central Conference), Cameron Binau had a double with three RBIs. Daniel Newell and Mark Walton each had two-hit games, with Newell picking up a double. Adam Duress also doubled while Alec Oney had a base hit.
Errors costly for Old Fort
BETTSVILLE - Matthew Goodman was sharp on the mound for Old Fort, but shaky defense behind him proved costly. Goodman allowed just two hits while striking out nine in six innings, but four Stockader errors contributed to two unearned runs for Bettsville, enough for the Bobcats to claim a 3-2 Midland Athletic League win.
Old Fort (1-8, 0-3) posted the game's first two runs in the second inning, before Bettsville tied the game in the third. The game remained tied until the Bobcats got the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.
Anthony Meza and Kennedy Hossler had Bettsville's hits with Meza picking up an RBI. Hossler scored two Bettsville runs with Dominic King also crossing the plate for the Bobcats.
King was also the game's winning pitcher, scattering seven hits while striking out six in the complete game performance.
Nick Yeakle drove in both Old Fort runs. Goodman and A.J. Phillimore scored Old Fort's runs.
Strong first lifts H-L
RISINGSUN - A six-run first inning propelled Hopewell-Loudon to a 12-2, six inning victory over Lakota. The Chieftains improved to 9-0, 3-0 Midland Athletic League.
Tyler Tyree blasted his second home run in as many days, giving him four for the season, overtaking teammate Alex Ratchen for the MAL lead. Tyree drove in four runs and scored three on the day.
Ratchen added a double and two singles, driving in three runs. Austin Kuhn doubled and drove in two.
Logan Sendelbach doubled, singled and scored three times. Austin Harrison also scored a pair of runs.
Tyree won the game on the mound. He struck out six while giving up just two hits in the complete game.
Tiger Jaso tripled and singled, representing each of Lakota's (4-4, 2-1 MAL) hits. Jaso and Brian Vamos scored runs.
BC's Paynter hits game-winning double
NEW WASHINGTON - Austin Adams' solo homer in the sixth inning broke a 6-all tie between Colonel Crawford and Buckeye Central, and put the Eagles three outs away from a victory.
But they only got one, as Buckeye Central scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the North Central Conference opener for both teams, 8-7.
Chase Finney walked to lead off the seventh for the Bucks. After a strikeout, Justin Miller singled to put runners at the corners. The next batter, Bryce Christy, grounded to short, but in attempting to turn a potential game-ending double play, the ball was dropped, and everyone was safe. Finney scored and the game was tied.
With runners at first and second, Adam Paynter ripped a double down the right field line to score Miller with the winning run.
"Great team win," said Buckeye Central (7-2) coach Chad Jenson. "This was the definition of a team win; everybody contributed."
Finney picked up the win in relief, going two innings and allowing one run. Adams took the loss for the Eagles.
Thomas Kaple singled, scored and drove in two runs for the Bucks, while Finney had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Connor Mutchler drove in a pair of runs for the Eagles.
Miscues lead to FHS loss
GENOA - Genoa scratched out a run in the bottom of the seventh Wednesday to nip Fostoria 2-1 in Northern Buckeye Conference play.
The Redmen (4-7, 0-1 NBC) tied the game in the top of the sixth but couldn't score again.
Anthony Dean (2-2) suffered the loss, despite fanning nine and giving up only two hits and a walk. Neither of the runs scored by the Comets were earned, with FHS committing two errors.
Casey Kitchen doubled twice and scored for FHS, Kaleb Bemis had a single and RBI and Tyler Layton singled.
Weinandy homers, drives in four, gets win for Mohawk
FOSTORIA - Nathan Weinandy homered, had three hits and drove in four runs as Mohawk ran through St. Wendelin, 14-3 in Fostoria.
Mohawk (2-3, 1-1 Midland Athletic League) pounded out 15 hits. Andrew Loose had three hits and scored three times. Everyone in the Mohawk lineup scored at least once.
In addition to his offensive performance, Weinandy started on the mound and went all five innings, striking out six and allowing four hits. He allowed three runs, two earned, while walking four.
St. Wendelin's Josh Digby had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run. Brad Buhrow took the loss as the Mohawks fell to 0-7, 0-3.
