Dueling pianos performance coming to Fostoria venue

FOSTORIA - The Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a performance of Dueling Pianos Friday at Stacy's Place (the former UAW hall) in Fostoria.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with music to begin at 7:15. Heavy hor d'oeurves are to be served. Bring beverages of choice.

The evening is to include a 50/50 drawing, raffles and door prizes. The cost is $35 per person and is open to those 21 and older.

Springfield tickets remain

Tickets still are available for pop singer Rick Springfield's show at The Ritz Theatre. Prices range from $45 to $75.

Springfield, whose hits include "Jessie's Girl," is to perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Jazz ensemble to perform

The Heidelberg University Jazz Ensemble is to give a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday in Rickly Chapel in College Hall on campus.

John Owen is the conductor. The musicians include: alto saxophones, Cassie Purcell and Kyle Sherepita; tenor sax, Ryan Ladina and Brittany Green; baritone sax, Lynsey Cook; trumpets, Michael Lee (lead), Shane Ramsey and Chris Durrig; trombones, Greg King (lead), Daryl Close, Jeremy House (bass); and rhythm, Melissa Flowers on piano, Collin Stump on guitar, Nathan Hestley on bass and Lucas Walter, drums.

During the first half of the program, vocalist Darcianne Allen is to sing with the ensemble and Owen has a trumpet solo.

Admission is free.

Club books comedians

Sonny Jack's in New Riegel is to have a stand-up comedy night at 9 p.m. Saturday. Professional comedians are coming in for this show.

Blues Brothers tribute

scheduled for Findlay's Cube

FINDLAY - "The Official Blues Brothers Revue" is to perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Cube, 3430 N. Main St., Findlay.

The show combines the comedy, music and mayhem from the original movie and songs from popular albums by John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd. Tickets range from $28 from $33.

Model trains on display

BUCYRUS - The Bucyrus Model Railroad Association is having its annual train show and swap meet 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Crawford County Fairgrounds, Bucyrus.

Admission is $4 for adults and free for children 12 and younger.

Jazz clinic this weekend

ATTICA - Attica United Methodist Church, 98 Mill St., Attica, is to host a free instrumental jazz clinic 2:30-4 p.m. Sunday for high school students.

Led by the jazz combo Padula Oblongata, "Getting Started Playing Jazz" is to teach students about the musical characteristics of jazz, the building blocks of jazz improvisation and how to practice jazz. Students interested in participating during the clinic should bring their instruments.

Following the clinic, an Italian dinner (by donation) is to be served to the public at 4:30 p.m. Padula Oblongata is to give a free performance at 6 p.m.

Participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items to help replenish the Attica Community Food Pantry.

... and speaking of jazz

FREMONT - Terra State Community College's "Music on Sunday" series continues at 4 p.m. Sunday in Terra's Recital Hall, Building D, on the Napoleon Road campus.

The Terra Jazz Combos and Contemporary Music Ensemble are to perform. Admission is free.

University of Findlay orchestra to bring the classical music

FINDLAY - The University of Findlay Orchestra is to present its spring concert 3-5 p.m. Sunday in Winebrenner Theological Seminary, 950 N. Main St., Findlay.

This family-friendly performance includes music by Bach, Mozart and Bernstein. Admission is free.

Jam night to get new format

Monday Night Jam Night has added the new Carmie's House Band for its weekly sessions 8-10 p.m. each Monday at Carmie's Grill and Bar, 2460 S. SR 231, Tiffin.

Mike Risner is to continue as host for the open mic event, with the house band to debut Monday.

Senior center has the remedy

A "Hop into Spring" card party is set for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Allen Eiry Senior Center.

The $7 admission includes lunch and door prizes. A game table is to be set up for those who do not play cards.

Dueling Pianos returning

Camden Falls has announced "Dueling Pianos" is returning for an 8 p.m. show April 21.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $20 at the door. A VIP party table for 10 is $175, which includes reserved seating, appetizers and a beer swag.

University Singers to play

FINDLAY - The University of Findlay's University Singers are to present its annual family concert at 3 p.m. April 21 in Winebrenner Theological Seminary. The group consists of 16 vocalists, a pianist, drummer and electric bass player, directed by Micheal Anders, professor of music at UF.

The performance is to include selections from Broadway shows such as "Bye Bye Birdie," "Wicked" "Dreamgirls" and "Jersey Boys." The singers also are to perform "Cinema Italiano" from the film "Nine" and the theme from the movie "Spider Man."

Doo-what? Chorus celebrates 50 years of barbershop music

FOSTORIA - The Fostoria Lake Plains Barbershop Chorus and chapter quartets are rehearsing the groups' 50th annual show at 7:30 p.m. April 28 at Fostoria High School Performing Arts Center.

This year's guest quartets are to be Happiness Emporium and Max Q. Tickets are $12 in advance and and $14 at the door.

Terra arts festival planned

FREMONT - Terra State Community College is to present its annual Celebration of the Arts festival, highlighting artwork and more from local, regional and professional artists, Sunday and through April 22.

All displays are open for public viewing 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and during festival events on weekends.
