Tackle evil, pronto

April 4, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

Whatever it takes. That ought to be the motto of Ohio officials displaying a new determination to stamp out human trafficking in the state.

Gov. John Kasich, in signing into law a bill calling for a new review of efforts against human trafficking, said he could not think of a greater evil. He is correct.

Many of the victims of human trafficking are children forced into prostitution. As many as 1,000 Ohio children may fit into the category.

Even if the actual number is a tiny fraction of that, far too many children's lives are being ruined.

Presumably, the review of how human trafficking is being battled will suggest more effective methods. State officials should waste no time in implementing them.
