HOOP SHOOT: Calvert third grader Nicholas Seifert finished third at the March 17 Great Lakes Regional Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest in Angola, Ind. Seifert went 21 of 25 at the line. He advanced to the regional by winning the local, district and state contests.

JV TENNIS: Columbian's Hunter Stark and Adam Young each won a singles match against Fostoria. The Tornadoes also got wins from the doubles teams of Austin Crabtree and Parker Holben, and Steven Peer and Drew Smith.

JV?BASEBALL: Columbian beat Marion Harding 28-0. Jeff Crawford pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 12. Bubba Miller was 5 for 5 with four RBIs, Jerrod Windsor had two hits and three RBIs, Garrett Bean had three hits, including a triple and four RBIs, Marcus Feasel had five hits including two doubles and five RBIs. Derek Bell doubled and Cody Myers and Jacob Dickman singled for the Tornadoes.

SOFTBALL: Green Springs will host a men's USSSA national bid tournament April 7. Drawings for team seeds is April 5 at 5 p.m. For more information or to register, call (419) 680-1464

MAL BASKETBALL MANUAL: The Midland Athletic League basketball manual will be available for sale Sunday at the MAL/BVC All-Star basketball game at Cory-Rawson. The manual includes all the stats, scores, coaching and team records since the league's inception in 1985. Cost is $14. Those who already have a manual can bring it to get updated with this year's stats. Anyone unable to attend but would like a manual can send $14 plus $3 for postage to Jeffrey Garber, P.O. BASEBALL: The Seneca County Little League's 2012 organization meeting will occur at 1 p.m. Saturday in Room 220 of the campus center at Heidelberg University. Parking is available behind the Gillmore Science Hall A representative from each community is asked to attend. The league will be voting on expansion, rule changes or additions, exemptions and other items pertaining to the upcoming season. n D League will hold an open draft Saturday at 2 p.m. at the D League field at Hedges-Boyer Park. The league is for 11- to 12-year-olds, with a May 1 cutoff date. For more information, call Jeff Hohman at (419) 448-7321.

n Tiffin Area Babe Ruth Baseball seeks players for all three divisions. To register for coach-pitch (5-8), call Brian Gibson (567) 207-7420. GOLF: The Jeffery Jewelry Two-Man Best Ball Monday Evening League at Seneca Hills will have an organizational meeting 5:30 p.m. on April 2. Individuals or teams interested in joining can call (419) 447-9446 for information and to sign up.

n Clinton Heights is starting a new Tuesday night league. A Fun Day is scheduled for April 17 with league play starting April 24. The format will be a two-person scramble/handicap league. Tee times are from 4-6 p.m. For more information call Jim Birch at (419) 447-8863.

n The Tiffin YMCA is registering players for its Two-Man Adult Scramble League at Seneca Hills. The league plays on Thursdays. Cost is $20 for the season.
