Roland ‘R.T.’ Cassell

Roland "R.T." Cassell, 76, of West 7th Street, Sycamore, died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at home.

He was born on April 27, 1935, in Kenova, W.Va., to Roland T. Cassell Sr. and Mary (Hatfield) Cassell.

He married Audrey (Bradley) Cassell, October 14, 1967, and she died April 14, 2007.

Surviving are children: Katy Moffett of Speedway, Ind., Louella Thorne of Berea, Loretta (Lloyd) Straub of Tiffin, Clara (Robert) Hartman of Fostoria and Pat (Ron) Wood Bucher of Upper Sandusky.

Also surviving are a special friend Candas Luikart, of Sycamore; one niece, Rachel Jane Sperry of Kenova, W.Va.; one nephew, James R. Stowers of Sycamore; 16 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Larry Bradley; one sister, Mary Francis Stowers; and one brother, Arvill J. Redman.

He retired after 30 years working at Tiffin Developmental Center, Tiffin. He attended Sycamore United Methodist Church and was a member of Nevada K. of P. Lodge No.234. He also was a 36-year member of Nevada Lodge No. 343 F.&A.M. He served many spaghetti dinners and functions held by the Masonic lodge. He enjoyed going to meetings and the company of his fellow Masonic brothers, who referred to him as "Rollie." He enjoyed auctions and working with the local auctioneers. He loved to travel and camp. He enjoyed going to bluegrass events; setting up his display of banjos, guitars, fiddles, mandolins; and his many bluegrass friends. He and his wife Audrey every year would travel to all 88 county fairs in Ohio. He also loved attending rodeos with his son Larry and loved spending time with family, friends and his cat "Sir Murphy."

R.T.'s funeral is 11a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, 201 Saffel Ave., Sycamore, OH, 44882, (419) 927-6252, with the Rev. Paul Bennett officiating. Burial is at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the funeral home. A K of P service is at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Masonic service at 8 p.m.
