Magician coming to Clyde

March 15, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

CLYDE - America's Junior Magic Champion is to bring his comedy and illusion show to Clyde High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. March 29.

Eli Portala and his all-teen team perform illusions that normally are seen only in larger, Vegas-type magic shows. He is to open the show producing doves from thin air and then making them vanish again moments later.

That particular piece of prestidigitation has won the young magician countless national and international magic titles. Other effects include producing a woman from a shadow and convincing audience members to step onstage with him for some impromptu dancing.

Portala has been performing since age 6. At that point, he won his first national magic competition and was asked to perform for a crowd of 2,000 the following day. Portala agreed, and has been performing in theaters across the county ever since.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
