JV BOYS BASKETBALL: Liberty Benton beat Calvert 44-32. Jared Thompson had eight points for the Senecas.

BASKETBALL: The 13 ABC All-Stars will play the Old Fort faculty and coaching staff today in a fundraising game. A pre-game dinner begins at 5 p.m., followed by the game at 7:30 p.m. Game tickets are $4 at the door. Pre-sale tickets are $3 and can be purchased at the high school during school hours, at Old Fort Bank and during home basketball games.

CYO TRACK: There will be a signup in the Upper Room of the St. Joseph Activity Center for any boys or girls in grades 4-8 from St. Mary or St. Joseph parishes who are interested in participating in track. The signup will take place today from 6:30-8 p.m. Necessary forms will be picked up at this time. The participation fee is $25. Call Phil Huss with any questions at (419) 448-4691.

DISC GOLF: The TNT Disc Golf League will host the Chili bowl tournament March 1- at 9:30 a.m. at Hedges-Boyer Park. The event features a two-round tournament and a chili cookoff. Cost is $20. For more information, call Clare Wertz at (419) 934-3970.

WRESTLING: Heidelberg will host the youth wrestling tournament "Bergmania" March 4 at Seiberling Gymnasium. There will be five divisions based on ages. Weight classes will be determined the day of the tournament by grouping according to the weights of the entered wrestlers. Weigh-ins for the morning session will take place from 7-8 a.m. Wrestling will begin at 9:15 a.m. for divisions 0 (6 and under), I (7- and 8-year-olds) and III (11- and 12-year-olds). Weigh-ins for the afternoon session will be from 10:30 a.m.-noon. Wrestling will begin at 1:30 for divisions II (9- and 10-year-olds) and IV (13-and 14-year-olds). Cost is $15 per wrestler if a coach calls in a wrestler and weight and $20 for walk-in wrestlers. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. PREP SOFTBALL: Fostoria High will take part in a fundraiser March 7 at McDonald's in Fostoria from 4-7 p.m.

n Fostoria High is holding a contest to win a Great Scot 90-second shopping spree. Tickets are available at Fostoria Pantry and will be sold by team players. The spree will occur March 14. Contact coach Gabe Sierra at (419) 937-7973 or gsierra@fostoriaschools.org for more information.

BASEBALL/SOFTBALL: The Tiffin Area Babe Ruth League is re-aligning into two divisions, one for 13- to 14-year-olds and one for 15- to 17-year-olds. Players must live in Tiffin or Seneca County, and must not turn 18 before May 1. A draft will occur April 1 at 2 p.m. at Vic Wurm Field in Hedges-Boyer Park. n Fremont Batting Range, in support of Fremont Parks and Recreation Department, will offer Little League sanctioned baseball and fast-pitch softball for players age 11 and 12 as of April 30. n Seneca County Little League will hold a meeting March 17 at 12:30 p.m. in the small room at Tiffin Public Library to discuss new rules, rule changes, exemptions, expansion, rules committee members and other items. Voting on the proposals will occur in April.

POLE VAULT CERTIFICATION: The University of Findlay will hold a pole vault coach certification class March 1 at 7 p.m. in the classroom at the east end of the school's indoor track facility. Cost is $10 per person. Any pole vault coach who has not been certified since June 2009 must complete a class by March 5. For more information, call John Knickel at (419) 722-0559.

CORRECTION: Some members of the District 6 Division IV team were inadvertently omitted from Wednesday's edition. Calvert's Olivia Smith was an all-district second team selection, averaging better than 12 points and seven rebounds in the regular season. Also making the second team was Seneca East's Ashton Daniel, who was the Midland Athletic League's leading scorer at almost 15 points a game. She also averaged better than six boards a contest. Mohawk's Lynsey Trusty (11.1 ppg.) and Kasey Adelsperger (11.4 ppg.) also made the second team, as did Carey's Hannah Tong, who averaged more than 10 rebounds a contest to lead the MAL. Rounding out the area second-team selections was Buckeye Central's Maddie Ehresmann, who averaged better than 12 points a game. Calvert's Megan Funkhouser made honorable mention after averaging better than 10 points a game.
