This month's Nature Walk Bird Talk at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve is to be 8 a.m. Feb. 11. All ages are welcome to walk the trails looking and listening to the sights and sounds of the preserve.
Binoculars are helpful. The walk last about 1 1/2 hours and qualifies for the walking stick program.
After the walk, at 10:30 a.m., a family program called "Valentines for the Birds" is planned. Families can learn about birds found in many backyards and make a valentine for to take home to the birds.
Garlo preserve is on SR 19 a mile south of Bloomville.
Toddlers ages 12-36 months with an adult companion are invited to a "Tracks & Scat" program at 4 p.m. at Forrest Nature Preserve, 701 E. CR 6.
Children can learn about forest mammals in the preserve as they walk the trails in search of tracks and scat.
Winter birds are the topic of a preschool program at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Schekelhoff Nature Preserve. Children ages 3-5 with an adult companion can spend time on the paved path as they learn about birds that stay here all winter.
Schekelhoff is along the Sandusky River off Water Street near Tiffin Water Pollution Control Center.

Sandusky County
Nature Bingo is planned for 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at White Star Park Log Cabin, 5013 CR 65, Gibsonburg, south of the park's main entrance.
For a change of scenery, join a group at the cabin to play bingo, learn more about nature and win prizes.

Hancock County
The Disc Golf Community Association is hosting the eighth annual Ray Heverling Charity Ice Bowl disc golf tournament at Riverbend Recreation Area Saturday.
Proceeds go to the Family Center of Findlay-Hancock County.
New and experienced players are invited to play one round of disc golf. Check-in begins at noon at shelter 3 with competition beginning at 1 p.m. Prizes are to be awarded.

Hancock Park District continues its new outdoor monthly bird monitoring program at 1 p.m. Feb. 10. Join Bob Sams, natural resource assistant, by the "Doc" Phillips Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve. Participants are to count all observable birds to accumulate data that would be used to help monitor population trends, land management effectiveness, and as a tool for
long-term habitat change and planning.

A bird program for all ages is planned 10 a.m. Feb. 11 at "Doc" Phillips Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve.
Join naturalist Michelle Rumschlag to learn what birds live in the area during the winter season and which ones could be visiting feeders. Participants can make a pine cone bird feeder to take home or leave for the Oakwoods' birds.

Crawford County
"Tellin' Tales: Crawford County Railroads" is planned for 2 p.m. Feb. 11 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 SR 598, Crestline.
Crawford Park District invites all ages to share stories about railroads, which were central to the development of Crawford County and the United States. Railroad construction changed local topography, involved the use of local natural resources and changed human behavior patterns.
Another discussion called "Leesville History: Roundtable Discussion" is planned 3:15 p.m. Feb. 11 at Lowe-Volk Park.
Anyone who has a connection to Leesville or is interested in the history of the area is welcome to participate in the discussion led by resident Joe Everly. Bring pictures to share.
A nature movie and popcorn family night is to take place at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Lowe-Volk Park. A free movie, "The Fox and the Child," will begin at 6:45 p.m.
