A Tiffin man is facing multiple charges after he was caught attempting to enter cars in a Heidelberg University parking lot Saturday morning.

According to Sgt. Mark Marquis of the Tiffin Police Department, a witness said they saw Daniel Jordan, 25, of Tiffin, trying to enter cars in the Krieg Hall parking lot, 167 Main St., just before 7 a.m. Saturday.

The witness said they watched Jordan until police arrived at the scene, Marquis said. After a short foot chase, Jordan was taken into custody.

Marquis said police recovered a large amount of stolen property from Jordan. Items included two bookbags, a laptop computer, and two iPod Touch devices.

Drugs and drug paraphernalia also were found in Jordan's possession, he said.

Marquis said Jordan has been charged with resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia, and possession of a drug abuse instrument. Theft charges are pending, he said, and police are investigating whether Jordan is connected to other incidents.

Jordan is being held at Seneca County Jail.

A Heidelberg security guard sustained a minor injury to his eye area during the incident, Marquis said. The guard was transported to Mercy Tiffin Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Marquis said Tiffin Police Department reminds residents to remove valuable items from vehicles and lock their doors.
