My mom, Ann Seitz, was diagnosed in August with uterine cancer. A couple of weeks later, she was given even more horrific news. The uterine cancer had spread to her right hip, which explained the tremendous pain she had been dealing with for months. She completed three weeks of radiation and completed six rounds of chemotherapy.
My mom is the hardest worker I know. She was still working as a nurse three days prior to the bone cancer diagnosis, even though the cancer had destroyed nearly her entire right tail bone. Jan. 21, Ruffing Care Center, where she worked since 1980, set up a wonderful benefit for my mom at the Amvets in Tiffin. More than 350 people attended that cold and somewhat snowy night to show support for my mom! There are so many people to thank for this and their hard work with putting and executing such a flawless event: Diane Ruffing, for so many things, the whole staff at Ruffing, including the residents who my mother cared for as she cared for like family, a special thanks to her sister Laura Wiencek, Mellissa Mullins, Diane Ward and Ticia Fox. Thanks to all of my mother's siblings for donating their time, prizes, food and general caring and love for my mom! My awesome grandmother, we love you! To all of you who gave so graciously to my mother, unbelievable! Denise Feasel, Rusty Vinyl, Tom Bridinger, Andrew Rombach and so many others I am forgetting. I would also like to thank F.A.C.T. and the cancer center at Firelands Regional Medical Center!
