SANDUSKY - Sandusky State Theatre's Jazz @ Eight series is to feature "A Tribute to the Great American Songbook with Mark Gridley" at 8 p.m. Feb. 3.

Jazz historian and flutist Mark Gridley is to join the Michael Shirtz Quartet and saxophonist Brian Lang in an evening of tunes that celebrate the Great American Songbook.

Sponsored by Terra State Community College, this program should appeal to fans of George Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Cole Porter and the like.

Gridley is a jazz musician, music educator and jazz historian/author. His works and writings have been translated into five foreign languages and his writings appear in such works as "Grove Dictionaries of Music," Encyclopedia Britannica and more.

His textbook, "Jazz Styles," has been a mainstay in jazz education for colleges and universities for nearly two decades.

The Jazz @ Eight series transforms the state room of the State Theatre into a jazz club, with two 50-minute sets, cash bar and light refreshments.

Tickets are $12. Seating is limited.

To reserve tickets, call the box office at (419) 626-1950.
