Gerald "Jerry" D. Depinet, 66, of Tiffin, died at 12:32 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
Jerry was born Oct. 23, 1945, in Tiffin, to Gabriel and Lucinda (Reinhart) Depinet. He married Betty (Janovich) Oct. 4, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she survives.
Jerry was survived by his wife, Betty; four children, Kenneth (Cindy) Depinet of Lyons, Ohio, and Linda Depinet, Christina (Casey) Jordan and Kimberly (Michael) Ford, all of Tiffin; three grandchildren, Johnathon Morlock, Eric Jordan and Rebecca Jordan; five brothers, John (Yvonne) Depinet of Galion, the Rev. Robert Depinet of New York, Raymond (Connie) Depinet of Findlay, Ralph (Deanna) Depinet of Tiffin and Jim Depinet of Tiffin; and three sisters, Geraldine (Norman) Lucius of New Washington, Margaret (Jim) Karl of Shelby and Vi (Tom) Wasserman of Helena.
Jerry worked in maintenance at St. Francis for 33 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Legion. He was a 1964 graduate of Calvert High School and a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Vietnam. He enjoyed flowers, gardening, being outside, his animals and just being with his family.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leo and Joe Depinet, and a sister, Mary.
His Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka and the Rev. Robert Depinet officiating. The rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery, with military honors rendered by United Veterans Council.
Friends and family may visit 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory in Tiffin with a wake service at 3:30 p.m.
