A benefit for Ann Seitz is planned Jan. 21 at Tiffin AMVETS. The event is to include a spaghetti dinner served 5-8 p.m., prize raffles, 50/50 drawing, cash bar, and music by Rusty Vinyl from 8-10 p.m.
Seitz, a licensed practical nurse, is being treated for ovarian cancer, which was diagnosed several months ago. She had to give up her job at Ruffing Care Center of Tiffin.
Diane Ward and Melissa Mullins of Ruffing are organizing the benefit to assist Seitz with expenses. They also raised more than $900 for Seitz at a summer garage sale and about $500 from monthly basket raffles at Ruffing.
Mullins said Seitz started at the facility in 1980 when it was called Riverfront Manor. In 1990, she transferred to St. Catherine's of Fostoria, working for the same owner. Mullins was among the people Seitz hired.
"She started back here in December 1999. She helped also with the nurse aide training class," Mullins said. "She hopes to be at the benefit, if she feels up to it."
Admission to the benefit is $6.50 per person. Tickets will be available at the door and in advance by calling Mullins or Ward at (419) 447-4662. They also have "Fight Like a Girl" T-shirts for sale at $10 each.
"On the back of the shirt it says, 'Betting on Ann,'" Mullins said.
