Dinner to show support for vets
There are no plans - yet - for a huge ticker-tape parade to welcome home veterans of the war in Iraq. Perhaps it would be better to wait until our troops come home from Afghanistan, too. But a local veterans' organization is planning to honor those who served in previous conflicts.
Tiffin VFW Post 2858 is planning a dinner for Jan. 21 to honor veterans who served in Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Granada, Panama and Bosnia. The grilled ham steak dinner is free for the vets, but regular citizens can buy a meal and show their support, too. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children younger than 11.
