Anthony C. "Tony" Cardwell, 62, of Findlay, passed away at 5:25 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Mich.
Tony was born Feb. 17, 1949, to Carl W. and Mary (Carter) Cardwell in Redruth, Cornwall, England. He married Ruth A. Bird March 10, 1972, and she preceded him in death Nov. 17, 2005.
Tony is survived by a sister, Shirley A. (William) Bird of Tiffin and numerous nieces and nephews. He also is survived by special friends, Chuck and Deb Stock.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Cardwell, and two sisters, Carole Coleman and Linda Halcomb.
He retired as a custodian for Findlay City Schools. He was a 1967 graduate of Fostoria High School and volunteered at The Salvation Army and City Mission. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968-1971.
A gathering of friends will be 4-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Interment will be private. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
