Tiffin Park and Recreation Department is accepting nominations for volunteers who deserve to be recognized as the 2011 Tiffin Park and Recreation Volunteer of the Year.
Nominees should be people who have made a significant, positive difference through their dedication to the community and the Tiffin Park and Recreation Department.
Nominations should be received by Jan. 9. Candidates will be reviewed by the Park and Recreation Board.

The Seneca County Park District invites toddlers ages 12-36 months with an adult companion to learn about skunks at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, south of Bloomville on SR 19.
A preschool program about the night sky is planned for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 10, also at Garlo.

A winter wetland walk is planned for 3:30-5:30 p.m. Jan. 4 by the Sandusky County Park District at Muddy Creek Reserve. Meet at the office and caravan to the park.
Dress for the weather and bring binoculars if possible to view a nearby eagle nest.
Join local researcher Tom Kashmer for bird feeder banding 8 a.m. Jan. 7 and Jan. 21. To observe bird feeder visitors in winter, meet at the office and travel to private property around the marshes of Sandusky Bay. In indoor comfort, view a "window on wildlife" and learn about bird banding research by watching the process up close.
The park office is at 1970 Countryside Place, Fremont, in the County Office Complex.

The deadline for entering Hancock Park District's photo contest is Jan. 9. Amateur photographers of all ages are invited to participate in the 16th annual contest.
Drop off photos by noon at the park office, 1424 E. Main Cross St., Findlay, with an entry form attached to the back.

"Howl at the Moon" is set for 7 p.m. Jan. 9 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 SR 598, Crestline.
Join Crawford Park District naturalist Josh Dyer and Carley as they venture through the nighttime woods to hear night sounds and see what other animals may be howling. All ages and breeds welcome. Flashlights are recommended.
