Lisa Swickard is to sign her new book, "Weathering the Extremes: Seneca County's 'Other' Floods and Deadly Heat Wave" 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Paper and Ink. The book has stories about the effects of extremely high temperatures in 1936. It also covers several floods that have affected the county. Swickard also is to sign copies of her previous books, including "Calamity and Courage" about the 1913 flood.
Paper and Ink also has copies of "Your Handle on the Night Sky" by local writer, Daniel Pope. The book contains copies of Pope's syndicated newspaper columns from the Advertiser-Tribune. The book is aimed at those who would like to walk outside on a clear night and be able to locate, name, and recount some history or science concerning the major constellations, stars and planets.
