Seneca County

The Seneca County Park District is conducting a "Stocking Search" hike at 4 p.m. Dec. 12 at Tiffin University Nature Preserve.

Dress to be out on the trail and search for Christmas stockings stuffed with Christmas trivia. The walk is to last about an hour and qualifies for the walking stick program.

Toddlers ages 12-months with an adult companion are invited to paint pinecones at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, south of Bloomville on SR 19.

Hancock County

The Hancock Park District invites all ages to see how the Project FeederWatch program works and help count birds at the Oakwoods bird feeders.

Count times are to take place 2-4:30 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8-10 a.m. Dec. 8. No experience is necessary.

Oakwoods is at 1400 Oakwoods Lane, off West Sandusky Street off CR 144, west of Findlay.

Bundle up and join the last full moon hike of the year at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 to see which animals dare to be out on a cold December evening.

Riverbend is on TR 208, off SR 568, east of Findlay.

Experience the holiday season of 1847 during a candlelight walk 6-9 p.m. Dec. 10 at Hancock County Park District's McKinnis house.

Enjoy an early winter night by meeting characters from the 1840s and hear how rural Hancock County residents celebrated the holidays. Visit with the McKinnis family and friends as they gather by the fire and discuss the holidays.

Visitors are encouraged to get into the holiday spirit and are welcome to sing along to some traditional Christmas songs as they are played on period instruments, or sample some 19th-century sweets.

Crawford County

Join Crawford Park District Naturalist, Josh Dyer for an overview of Ohio's snakes during a "Snakes Alive!" program at 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 SR 598, Crestline.

Ohio is home to 28 species of snakes, 11 of them documented in Crawford County. Following the program, participants can see their differences and handle a sampling of the slithery reptiles.
