McDonald’s adding 2nd drive-through

McDonald's fans soon are to have another reason to crave a trip to the Tiffin restaurant.

When the location's current remodeling project is completed, McDonald's is to feature a double drive-thru window for faster service. Dorita Snyder, chief operating and financial offer of Humbard Enterprises, which operates eight McDonald's locations in the area, said the addition of a second drive-through is the most substantial change to the restaurant.

"Service is expected to go quicker and easier," Snyder said, and probably will cause the size of the serving crew to be increased to accommodate extra traffic.

The building's exterior also is being updated, according to Snyder. The restaurant will have an "all-new look, all the way around," she said.

The interior is being changed to reflect McDonald's philosophy of "simple, easy, enjoyment and quality," Snyder said. There will be a new front counter and menu board, she said, but the basic floor plan will stay the same. Also, a few updates are planned for the children's play area.

After the remodel, Tiffin's McDonalds will offer some menu changes, but those changes can't be announced yet, Snyder said. A grand opening at the location will be planned once a completion date for construction is finalized.

The remodel is expected to take "hopefully about four more weeks," according to Snyder, and McDonald's is working hard keep customers flowing easily during construction.
