MOHAWK VOLLEYBALL: Mohawk will play St. Henry in the Division IV state volleyball semifinals on Friday at 6 p.m. at Wright State University's Nutter Center. Mohawk will dismiss at 1 p.m. on Friday to allow students and staff the opportunity to support the team in Fairborn. "Spirit Buses" for students and staff will be available, and will depart approximately 2:15 p.m. on game day.
* Pre-sale tickets will be available today from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. for $7. Tickets will be $9 at the door. "Mohawk Volleyball State Final IV" t-shirts and hoodies are also available for pre-order purchase through the Pep Club. The Division IV finals are Saturday at 5 p.m.
GOLF: Denny Krupp and Bud Witsman won the Jeffrey Jewelry 2-man Best Ball League at Seneca Hills. Rick Steiner and Jim Reinhart were runners-up.?* The Thursday Retiree League at Clinton Heights was won by two teams tied at 3-under par. Don Kin, Fred Smith, Bob Schultz and Craig Niefer tied with Ray Nutter, Carl Rainey, George Hemminger and Rob Holt. Prizes went to Schultz (Long putt No. 3), Hemminger (Closest in one No. 5 and Closest in three No. 9) and Kin (Closest in two No. 1).?* Three teams tied for first place in Monday's 2-Man Best Ball event at Seneca Hills with scores of 8-over par. Harry Smith had the long putt on No. 9, Ray Krupp was the closest to the pin on No. 6 and Gene Winters and Jeff Wise shared the low gross with 38s.
COLUMBIAN FOOTBALL: The Tornadoes will play East Cleveland Shaw on Friday at Sandusky's Strobel Field. Presale tickets for $7 will are on from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.-7 p.m. A portion of all pre-sale tickets go to the Columbian Athletic Department. Tickets are $9 at the gate.
* Columbian will hold its mandatory OHSAA meeting for middle and high school athletes and parents for the upcoming winter season today at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. All parents and athletes are expected to attend.
CALVERT FOOTBALL: Tickets for Calvert's playoff game against Delphos St. John's on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bowling Green State University will be sold in the Calvert main office today through Friday from 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $7 and tickets at the gate are $9. Passes will not be accepted. Fans who remain in the stadium after the game can see Kenton face Genoa at 7 p.m.
ALL-STAR VOLLEYBALL: The Fostoria Athletic Boosters 18th annual All-Star Volleyball Match is Sunday at Fostoria High School. The first match is East Gold vs. West Gold starting at 5:30 p.m. with the second match, East Red vs. West Red, starting 30 minutes after the completion of the first match. There are 38 area schools representing 10 separate conferences, sending tentatively 64 seniors to participate this year.
