The unemployment rate in Seneca County is down for the second month in a row.
According to information from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the jobless rate in September was 8.7 percent, down from 9 percent in August. Unemployment stood at 10.2 percent in July.
The unemployment rate also was down from 10.1 percent in September 2010.

According to the estimate, 2,500 were recently unemployed or seeking work in September, down from 2,600 in August. However, statistics showed the civilian labor force - the estimate of all people working or seeking work - decreased in September to 28,900 from 29,100 in August.
Counties in the surrounding area had lower unemployment rates with the exception of Huron County, which increased to 10.2 percent in September compared to 10 percent in August. Crawford County had the highest rate at 11 percent unemployment, and Hancock County the lowest at 7.3 percent.
The seasonally adjusted rate in Ohio was 9.1 percent unemployment in September, the same as in August.
The jobless rate was 9.6 percent seasonally adjusted in September 2010.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment also was unchanged at 9.1 percent for a third month.
