Coffee House to feature Michael Sooy

Fostoria Church of God's Coffee House Ministries is to feature Michael Sooy, vocalist and instrumentalist, along with his band Hoopty Hoo and the Such of Old Fort on Sunday in the coffee house/auditorium, complete with a 33-foot stage and seating for 200 guests.

Sooy is serving as the worship arts leader at Old Fort Church. He sang his first solo in church at the age of 2 and began taking piano lessons at church at the age of 5.

After high school, he moved on to receive a bachelor's degree in music from Heidelberg College. Following college, he teamed up with Old Fort Church and has now been serving there for more than 12 years.

The coffee house is to open at 5 p.m. and operate throughout the evening. The performance is to begin at 6 p.m. An offering is to be taken for the performers. Fostoria Church of God Coffee House is at 122-124 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.

Bellevue shrine to conduct Eucharistic Holy Hour Thursday

A Eucharistic Holy Hour is planned for 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine near Bellevue. Those who attend are to pray a scriptural rosary on the luminous mysteries of John Paul II. A confessor is to be available. Sorrowful Mother Shrine is at 4106 SR 269, seven miles south of Bellevue.

Mass on campus set for Sunday

A Catholic Mass is set for 7 p.m. Sunday in Herbster Chapel inside Pfleiderer Hall on the Heidelberg University campus. Father Frank Murd is to be the celebrant. Sunday is World Food Day, and non-perishable food items are to be collected for FISH food pantry. The Mass is sponsored by the Heidelberg Catholic Newman Club and Campus Ministry.

Informational meeting on adoption set for Oct. 27

TOLEDO - An informational meeting on adoption is planned for 6-9 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Catholic Center, 1933 Spielbusch Ave., Toledo. The meeting and parking are both free. The meeting is an opportunity to learn about domestic and international adoptions, along with the home study process. The evening is to include a guest panel and a question-and-answer period.
