Mohawk grabs victories over Monroeville and Wynford

MONROEVILLE - Lynsey Trusty registered 51 digs and two teammates added at least 20 each Saturday as Mohawk claimed a pair of matches in a total of five games.

"This was a great day for us," Mohawk coach Eric Hoover said after his team beat Monroeville 20-25, 25-22, 25-14 and Wynford 25-13, 25-14.

"Those are two very good teams and we really stepped up to the challenge," he said. "Our defense was phenomenal and we eliminated a lot of the unforced errors today."

Ashley Cooper backed Trusty with 26 digs, four kills and three blocks and Molli Cartwright had 22 digs and eight kills.

Ashley Parker chipped in 50 assists and 19 digs for the Warriors (9-2), Kristen Weininger came up with 17 digs and Sarah Parker tallied 25 kills, 12 digs, four blocks and three aces. Kasey Adelsperger accounted for 14 kills, seven digs and seven blocks and Julie Adelsperger turned in 10 kills and seven digs.

Tigers take a pair

PLYMOUTH - Seneca East claimed a pair of wins Saturday, beating Plymouth 25-11, 25-13 and Vanlue 25-14, 25-5 to improve to 6-9.

Samantha Miller paced the Tigers with 25 assists and three aces. Ashton Daniel hammered 14 kills and Samantha Walker belted nine aces and seven kills.

Hoffman-led Raiders roll

GENOA - Jessica Hoffman registered a double-double Saturday as Lakota upended Genoa, 25-16, 25-18, 25-21.

Hoffman keyed the Raiders' attack with 20 digs, 18 kills and two aces.

Kaela Wiseman tossed up 29 assists, Courtney Chalfin tallied 10 digs and two aces, Abby Durst came up with nine digs, Danielle Chaffee smacked eight kills and Kristen Brewer lined three kills.
