Leon J. and Janice A. Steyer celebrated their 50th anniversary Sept. 4, 2011, at All Saints Catholic Church, New Riegel, with a 10:30 a.m. Mass followed by a reception and luncheon at New Riegel American Legion.
Leon and Janice were married Sept. 2, 1961, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, by the Rev. Herman Scherger, Janice's uncle.
Leon is the son of the late Albert and Frances Steyer. He is retired from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria. He also drove bus for New Riegel Schools and was custodian for St. Boniface Cemetery.

Janice is the daughter of the late Carl and Germaine Scherger. She is retired from North Central Ohio ESC.
They are parents of nine children, Philip (Margaret) Steyer of Alvada, Yvonne (Mark) Dubielak of Toledo, Christopher (Patty) Steyer of Kansas City, Mo., Timothy (Judy) Steyer of Fenton, Mich., Gary (Heidi) Steyer of Port Clinton, Scott Steyer of Portland, Ore., the late Jennifer Steyer, Kimberly (Aaron) Baker of Toledo and Patrick Steyer of New Riegel. They also have 14 grandchildren.
