CELINA - Buckeye Central beat a pair of higher division foes and fell to fellow Division IV team St. Henry at Saturday's Celina Invitational.
The Buckettes sandwiched wins of 25-18, 25-17 against Division III Versailles and 25-23, 25-18 against Division II Celina around the 21-25, 25-16, 25-17 loss to St. Henry.
"We played a very strong St. Henry team with a strong performance of our own," Buckeye Central coach Bill Bonham said. "Our serving wasn't as strong as it could have been, and our blocking was horrible. That combination allowed St. Henry to run a very aggressive and successful offense that had or defense fighting the entire match.
"We need to learn to keep the intensity high for an entire match and not just part of it," he said.
Kilee Kimmel tossed up 101 assists for the Buckettes and Brooke Karl came up with 20 digs.
Makayla Agin smacked 32 kills, Sammi Marcum lined 28 and Madison Williams slammed 20.
