ATTICA - Omar Chapel, an Attica area landmark since 1842, is in need of a fresh coat of paint.
A donor from southern Ohio who contributes to the maintenance of Omar Chapel has offered to purchase all of the paint and supplies and to come and help with scraping and painting the chapel if the Omar Chapel Association can gather enough volunteers to help.
Omar Chapel Association has maintained the chapel as a historical landmark since 1953.
The group has about 10 active members, many of them senior citizens in their 70s and 80s.
The association is appealing for help from individuals, organizations and persons who are required to do community service.
Those who may be interested in helping with this project to preserve the site may contact Don and Lynn Miller at (419) 426-4981 or Larry Lepard at (419) 668-3592.
Omar Chapel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an official Ohio Underground Railroad Historic Site.
