A Bloomville based company has received the bid for demolition of two vacant properties on Washington Street.
The Tiffin Board of Control met Tuesday morning to award a contract to Allen Excavating Inc. of Bloomville for the demolition of the former Rainbow Muffler property, 17 N. Washington St., and the former Firestone property, 12 N. Washington St. The bid was $36,200.
The project is to include demolition of the two properties through the use of Community Development Block Grant Funds. Rainbow Muffler was purchased by the Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp. in late June and the Firestone property is to be donated to the city, although the deed has not been received yet.
The engineer's estimate was $65,000 and six companies submitted bids.
Karen Bowers, director of development for SIEDC, said any remaining funds after the demolition could be used for another project, which would need to be completed by the end of the year.
