TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Toledo officials are weighing whether to spruce up a downtown market to attract new businesses.

The city council in Toledo will decide on spending about $150,000 to fix the Erie Street Market's roof and its heating and cooling system.

Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins says it's a chance to transform part of the market that has been mostly vacant for eight years and bring new jobs to the downtown area.

The mayor tells The Blade ( ) newspaper that he's been in talks with a national grocery chain about opening a new store in part of the market.
