Farmers reminded to certify HEL land

April 26, 2011
The Advertiser-Tribune

The Seneca County office of the Farm Service Agency reminds producers they must continue to follow highly erodible land and wetland conservation plans on file with the local Natural Resources Conservation Service office to remain eligible for U.S. Department of Agriculture benefits.

As producers prepare fields for spring planting, they should keep in mind special practices that may be required.

Before they begin production on any new ground, producers must get approval from FSA and NRCS. This includes clearing fence rows, removing stumps and draining wet areas.

Producers who have questions about their conservation plans or need approval for new ground should call FSA or NRCS offices at (419) 447-7071.
