Claudine and Allan Haines observed their 70th wedding anniversary in December. They were honored with a surprise gathering at New Riegel Cafe by their children and families. Family members came from Iowa, Michigan, Kentucky and Ohio.
They were married Dec. 21, 1940.
Allan was a design engineer at National Machinery for 41 years.

Claudine was a homemaker, and usually involved in various community projects.
They are the parents of Janet (Cliff) Alspach and Jerrie (Paul) Pryor of Tiffin and Alice Heckman of Louisville, Ky., and the late Linda Rench. They have six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
