Host of fundraisers planned

The Tiffin Memory Walk is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hedges-Boyer Park. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Russ Snyder from WTTF radio is the 2010 honorary chairman.

People from Tiffin and the surrounding region are making the walk and gathering donations to support those affected by Alzheimer's disease, programs and services and research for a cure.

The free family-friendly event includes snacks, a basket raffle, children's activities and the Memory Garden.

United Way

Thanks to local donors, Tiffin-Seneca United Way already has raised more than $3,300 through its "Lights, Camera, Auction!" online auction. Some new items have been added at

Some items already have been awarded, and those winners will be contacted this week. The auction concludes Sept. 30.

Greater Fostoria Community Foundation

FOSTORIA - A hog roast and benefit auction for the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation is slated for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 30 in the Roppe Hangar at Fostoria Municipal Airport. Admission is $30 per person, which includes dinner and entry for door prize drawings. Tickets can be purchased in the office at 112 N. Main St., Fostoria.

Guests can view displays of past grant recipients and examine auction items before dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. The live auction starts at 7:30 p.m. Items include tickets to professional sports events, autographed memorabilia, gift baskets and tickets to area attractions.

Kids Cancer Crusade

A Kids Cancer Crusade scrapbooking fundraiser is planned for 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Oct. 2 at Sentinel Career Center, 793 E. TR 201, Tiffin. Registration is $25, which includes half of a round table, snacks and beverages, pizza and dessert for dinner and door prizes.

Vendors from Scrap Happy and Creative Memories will have supplies available for purchase. Raffles and a 50/50 drawing also are being offered.

FISH Food Pantry

The Tiffin YMCA Women Achieving Miles organization is conducting a 5K Harvest Corn Run at 8 a.m. Oct. 2 at Riehm Farm on North SR 53. To enter the race, bring canned foods or a cash donation in any amount to benefit the FISH Food Pantry.

Participants will run or walk the marked course down the tomato driveways, in the cow lane, around the pasture and through the corn maze.

BASCOM - A pulled pork dinner and live music by local bands are being featured during "Dancing in the Streets for F.A.C.T." The benefit is to run 6 p.m.-1 a.m. Oct. 2 at Clouse's Bar in Bascom.

Jason Wagner is to play 6-8:30 p.m. and Xpando Band takes over from 8:30 p.m. to close. Admission is $10 per person, which includes dinner. A cash raffle for a $500 prize also is being conducted at $5 per ticket.

Mercy pediatric patients

The fifth annual pumpkin painting competition at Riehm Farm runs Oct. 9-21 to benefit the children's care department at Mercy Tiffin Hospital. Fourth-grade pupils from Seneca County are adding artistic touches to pumpkins for display on a "pumpkin tower" at the farm market on North SR 53.

The community can judge the winners by casting votes at 25 cents each. At 3 p.m. Oct. 23, some of the artists will be on hand as their creations are auctioned.

Each child participating in the auction is to receive a coupon for a free kid's meal at Bob Evans. Trophies and a pizza party for the winning classroom are to be awarded.

Heart Walk

The Seneca County Heart Walk is set for 3:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in the Mercy Tiffin parking lot on St. Lawrence Drive. Kathy Weaver and the cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation department are organizing the event.

Man to Man

BELLEVUE - The Sandusky County Man to Man support group for prostate cancer is participating in a 5K Prostate Awareness Run and Walk Oct. 16 at Bellevue Community Center, 110 Cherry Blvd., Bellevue.

Registrations are being accepted now at a cost of $15, which includes a long-sleeved shirt for the first 100 entrants. The race-day fee is $20 per person. Registration packets can be picked up 7:30-8:30 a.m. with the race at 9 a.m.

Awards will be given to overall winners and to top finishers in various age groups.

Entries can be mailed to Bellevue Rec Department Prostate Run, 110 Cherry Blvd., Bellevue, OH 44811.
