James and Roberta Shaver of Tiffin are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today, Sept. 5, 2010, with a Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. A dinner, hosted by their children, will follow the Mass at the home of their daughter and son-in-law in rural Fremont.
The couple was married Sept. 3, 1960, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, by the Rev. Cleo Schmenk.
Jim is the son of the late Harold and Mary Catherine Shaver. He retired after 35 years with Basic Inc. and farming.

Roberta is the daughter of the late Raphael and Olga Brickner. She is a homemaker and an organist for Old Trinity Episcopal Church, Tiffin.
They are parents of five children, Nancy of Sylvania, Janet (Bernard) Calvey of Independence, Jane (John) Molyet of Fremont and David and Michael of Tiffin. They have eight grandchildren who complete the family.
