Employees of Seneca County are to asked to adopt a new social networking policy.
During a meeting of the Seneca County Board of Commissioners Thursday morning, a resolution was passed to accept the policy.
"There are policies with the social networking websites, like Facebook and Twitter, other counties have issued, so there's been a policy put in place for our county now," County Administrator Stacy Wilson said.
A copy of the new policy was not available Thursday afternoon.
All employees are to be notified by e-mail of the policy and asked to accept it.
Board President Nutter suggested offices that choose not to adopt the policy come up with their own.
In other news, Wilson reported progress in the clean-up of dead trees near the RTA building, 109 S. Washington St. She said Tiffin Mayor Jim Boroff contacted her and offered the use of city owned equipment, including a stump grinder, for completion of the project.
Wilson said Tiffin Public Works Superintendent Mike Hoffman inspected the area and bids are out to have the parking lot resealed by Sept. 17 for Heritage Festival Weekend.
"I would commend everyone that has been involved with the RTA building," Commissioner Mike Bridinger said. "We're getting to the point where we're seeing a lot of movement and it's very positive."
"And we did it all while saving the taxpayer money," Nutter said. "While it may have been unsightly for some time, I'm sure it will be a product that we'll be happy with."
In another matter, the board heard from Jeff Smelcer, president of North West Group Services, a Maumee-based company that administers services and products associated with health and life insurance benefits. The company would work separately from Corporate One, the county's health insurance administrator.
Commissioners gave Smelcer approval to move forward with a study of benefit providers and options and to make a full presentation.
During the meeting, commissioners also passed a supplement to the permanent appropriation to the General Fund of $643,254.19 for the Seneca County Sheriff's Office. Recently the budget commission increased the sheriff's office's certified revenue based on revenue projections from the jail's Immigration and Customs Enforcement program.
Funds were distributed between salary, flex spending administration fees and other expenses for the jail, road and court security divisions. Commissioners approved additional appropriations Aug. 12 for outstanding medical and maintenance costs.
