VAN BUREN - Aric Shock and Devin Cartwright scored three touchdowns each Friday as Mohawk whipped Van Buren, 44-0.
Mohawk took control early, with Shock returning the game's opening kick 88 yards for a score, then catching a 53-yard TD strike from Kyle Parker. Craig Parker returned a punt 59 yards in the first quarter and Cartwright scored from 3 yards out for a 25-0 lead.
The Warriors added third-quarter TD runs of 4 yards by Cartwright and Shock, and Cartwright plowed in from 4 yards in the fourth.
Shock finished with 70 yards on 15 carries and Cartwright ran eight times for 50 yards. Kyle Parker went 5 of 11 for 99 yards passing, with Shock catching two passes for 62 yards.
Tigers slip past Trojans
ATTICA - Seneca East scored one touchdown in each of the first three quarters and held off a late charging Trojan squad in it's 21-16 win over South Central.
Jason Branham led the Tigers with a touchdown and 130 yards rushing while completing 6 of 14 passes for 60 yards. Nick Hughes (TD) and Jamie Schafer, (55 yds. receiving, TD) backed him.
Jared Walker rushed for 63 yards.
Jake Michaels added in a sack, Josh Reed forced a fumble and Cody Schultz, Kyle Depinet and Elliott Lee tallied eight tackles each for the Tigers.
No individual statistics were reported for South Central.
Titans throttle Fostoria
OTTAWA - Ottawa-Glandorf grabbed a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and Nathan Kahle finished with 174 yards rushing and two scores Friday in a 48-0 season-opening win over Fostoria.
Kahle sprinted in from 73 yards out to put the Titans up 7-0 at the 8:32 mark of the first quarter. Brandon Kuhlman added a 45-yard TD run and Craig Rieman bulled in from a yard out to make it 21-0 in the first.
Kahle added a 50-yard scoring run in the second quarter, and third-quarter scores came on runs of 11 yards by Kuhlman, 10 yards by Jeff Siefker and 12 yards by Rieman as the Titans rolled up 523 yards on 44 carries.
The Redmen managed just 60 yards on 36 carries, with Trevon Tucker running 15 times for 43 yards.
Bermejo-led Rangers thump visiting Lakota
NORTHWOOD - Zach Bermejo rumbled for 125 yards on just three TD runs Friday to fuel Northwood's 36-0 win over Lakota.
Bermejo had scoring runs of 46 and 5 yards in the first quarter and 74 in the second to put the Rangers up 22-0.
Erik Russell added a 12-yard TD run and conversion reception later in the second period and Jake Pressley scored on an 8-yard run in the third.
Information on Lakota was not submitted.
Bucks drop hammer on NL
NEW WASHINGTON - Tyler Erwin threw for three touchdowns in the first half and Adam Paynter returned a punt 70 yards for a score Friday as Buckeye Central walloped New London, 48-7.
Paynter started the barrage by returning a punt 70 yards with a little more than nine minutes left in the opening quarter.
Erwin connected on TD passes of 55 yards to Justin Herrnstein and 74 to Auston Hood later in the period before finding Sam Shafer for a 25-yard toss in the second quarter for a 28-0 lead.
The rest of the scoring occurred in the third quarter, with the Bucks getting a 19-yard run by Michael Adkins, a 5-yard rush by Alex Finney and Herrnstein's 50-yard interception return.
Erwin finished 9 of 12 for 261 yards through the air. Hood caught two passes for 106 yards and ran 12 times for 71 yards. Shafer had three receptions for 75 yards.
The Wildcats scored on Clayton Hall's 23-yard pass to John Sands midway through the third. Hall ended 10 of 23 for 172 yards, but threw two picks.
