Council OKs bid for $555,000 grant

March 23, 2010

Tiffin City Council convened a special meeting Monday to pass a resolution concerning 2010 Community Housing Improvement Program grant funds.

Members approved a resolution to file an application with the Ohio Department of Development requesting up to $555,000 of 2010 CHIP funds and declaring an emergency.

The funds are to be used for projects in association with WSOS Community Action Commission, including rehabilitation of homes, foreclosure counseling and Habitat for Humanity.

The special meeting was called because there were not enough council members attending the last meeting to suspend the three-reading rule at that time.

A finance committee meeting was scheduled to follow the special meeting but a quorum was not present, so no action was taken.
