Tiffin University men run third in 4 x 4 at D-2 nationals
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Justin Ware and Anthony Thomas had already earned All-American honors by the time the final race rolled around Saturday, but the Tiffin runners were hardly done.
They ran the final two legs of the 4 x 400 to help the Dragons capture third to close out TU's trip to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Deven Keene and Dominic Colvin joined Ware and Thomas to help the relay end in 3:13.54 and help the Dragons finish 13th as a team with 13 points. It was the best team finish in school history, coach Jeremy Croy said.
"It was fantastic. We were hoping for a top-10 finish and we finished two points out of ninth, so it was a dog fight," Croy said.
"It was a fantastic way to end four years of leadership," he said, referring to seniors Dan Snyder, Thomas and Ramone Brant.
Thomas also ran fifth in the 200 (21.54) and Ware came in seventh in the 400 (48.74).
Tiffin also got an All-American effort from Dan Snyder, who finished eighth in the heptathlon after tying a school record for points in the event with 4,980.
Brant ended 10th Friday in the 60 hurdles in 8.1 seconds, the second-fastest time in TU history.
